Just how much did the Government collect in taxation in the last tax year? Well, we now know thanks to the release of detailed tax receipt information by HMRC. A total of £446 Billion was collected in taxes in the last tax year. This figure includes all taxes, such as duties and VAT.

55.4 percent of the figure is derived from Income Tax, National Insurance Contributions and Capital Gains Tax (£247 Billion).
VAT contributed 18.7 percent (£83 Billion).
Corporation Tax provided 9.4 percent (£42 Billion).

The number of registered individual taxpayers is reported as 30.6 Million.
